Morgan Bennett-Smith is a marine biologist and professional wildlife photographer.

After earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in marine science, Morgan founded Bennett-Smith Underwater Media in 2020 and Red Sea Imaging LLC in 2022.

Now, Morgan is an underwater DoP and leads Red Sea Imaging in providing media services to a range of high-profile clients. He is also a PhD candidate at Boston University in the Marine Evolutionary Ecology Lab.

Mainly focused on documenting the uncharted habitats of the Arabian Red Sea, Morgan’s work in the region has been featured by hundreds of media outlets, scientific journals, nonprofits, and other organizations. Along the way, his images have won nine different international awards.

In 2020, he published a 260-page coffee table book with Professor Michael Berumen - now in English and in Arabic - titled, Into the Red Sea; Images from a Living Laboratory. A second edition is currently in the works.

Morgan’s academic research focuses on coral reef communities, most recently the context-dependancy of marine mutualisms. Check out one of his recent publications, here.
